NOTE: The Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat is currently working on a revision of the Havenbeveiligingswet. We will inform you through our newsletter, as soon as the revised legislation comes into force.
The Havenbeveiligingswet is linked to the Wet Particuliere Beveiligingsorganisaties en Recherchebureaus (Wpbr) through article 14, which states that “Persons who perform security duties at port facilities, must be in the possession of a certificate proving that they have successfully completed a course for the security of port facilities recognized by the Minister of Infrastructuur & Waterstaat.”
This creates some additional requirements. Since they are only applicable to Dutch Port Facilities and the personnel performing security duties, Port Security Center provides some additional information on these requirements (currently only available in Dutch).
- What organisations are subject to the Wpbr?
- When are duties security duties?
- Requirements for Port Security Guards:
- Requirements for their employers (Port Facility or Security Company):
Port Facilities can easily check whether they meet the legal requirement by filling in our short questionnaire.
Be aware that not complying with the Wpbr is punishable under the Wet op de Economische Delicten.
